The 2005 Pure Love Wines Layer Cake is a wonderful Shiraz produced from the Barossa Valley in Southern Australia. Deep dark purple in color, it is an intense wine with fragrant aromas of blackberry and spice. Its sweet entry is tantalizing and it has a ripe and chewy texture and richness. Flavors consist of black pepper and licorice with cedar and spice nicely integrated. The finish is long with dusty tannins. It mellows out after an hour, so I recommend decanting (PH).
