BORGO DI COLLOREDO Other Reds 2001
designation: Gironia
vineyard: N/A
region: Italy - Molise
review date:
2007-04-04

The Borgo di Colloredo Biferno Rosso DOC 'Gironia' is an excellent blend of two of my favorite Italian varietals, Aglianico and Montepulciano. The best qualities of each of the grapes in this wine come together in this package to become a sum that is greater than its parts. Intense dark chocolate on the nose with raspberry and spice competing for the rest of the sensory receptors in your nose. The Aglianico brings its legendary balance of spicy fruit and balance with finesse while the Montepulciano hulks up to the palate with a whopping dose of fruit and chocolate. The result is a wine that brings together a package of flavor that will tantalize your senses leave you lingering, waiting, and wanting another taste (MDME).
