QVV Award

Production of the Roussanne varietal from the Central Coast has a couple of decades of popularity and these wines just keep getting better. When the wine maker understands what he is working with (Clay Brock certainly does) this varietal can reach a quality of magical proportions.

The aromas of this 2005 vintage waft up from the glass to assault your olfactory senses with a tidal wave of peak ripeness of pear and Madagascar vanilla bean. The flavors continue in a manner that makes one step back and say, "now that’s a big boy serious wine”.

The overall package is a sultry, seductive wine that carries the spice, pear and vanilla to a level other white varietals only wish they could achieve. The distinctive mineral finish will be reminiscent of the best quality White Burgundy. The culinary pairings are diverse with Dungeness crab being at the top of the list. Be adventuresome, break your usual procurement habits and indulge yourself with this wonderful wine, if you heed my advice on this one you will not be disappointed (MDME).
