This blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes blew me away with its intensity and statement of wine making style. Quality fruit and care in the winemaking shows through in this solid effort from this Australian producer. Large licorice and herb notes on the nose inform all who dare to take the next step that this is a wine to be reckoned with. The inky color and substantial texture confirm the initial observations. The wine on the tongue feels silky and sexy; its also a little bit hot, but not in a bad way. There are herbs, a hint of licorice, and strong chocolate tobacco flavors on the end pair it with the smokiest of meats, spiciest of pizzas, darkest of chocolates and strongest of cheeses it will mow through them like a chainsaw (MDME).
