| overview |
| Enobytes reviews hundreds of
wines each year. Each rating is based on
tastings completed by the editor and other
qualified panelists, either individually
or in a group setting.
Tastings can be conducted blind or in
accordance with the industry's rigorous
standards. Our tasting process focuses
on six key characteristics which include
aroma, color, fruit, tannins, acidity and
finish - and although price is not a factor
in assigning a score, we consider the wine's
value and quality to be of equal importance.
All of these characteristics are used
to calculate a score based on a 100-point
scale system. The following information
outlines our procedures and strategies
used to maintain the veracity of our wine
reviews. |

One of A Kind |
| what
is the Quality Value Vintner (QVV) award? |
 |
A
Quality Value Vintner's Award (QVV) is something
that is not obtained with one vintage. These awards
are given to vintners, who year after year, bring
to market quality products that represent an outstanding
value. |
| what
do we review? |
| We review wines from the around
the world. Most wines are submitted to us
by wineries or their U.S. importers. In addition,
we purchase many wines which are not submitted
by the winery. |
|
| who
reviews the wines? |
| Enobytes has a small staff
that reviews wines from around the world.
Their combined decades of experience span
across wine judging, sommelier, winery consultation,
restaurant management, hotel management,
retail, marketing, purchasing and a variety
of guest services experience throughout the
Boston, San Francisco, Portland, Chicago
and Seattle markets. Our wine panel includes:
Pamela Heiligenthal
Senior Editor & Tasting Director (tasting
initials: PH)*
Marc Hinton
Editor at Large & Tasting Judge (tasting
initials: MDME)*
John McReynolds
Editor at Large & Tasting Judge (tasting
initials: JM)*
Rob Morris
Editor at Large & Tasting Judge (tasting
initials: RM)*
*A wine panel's initials at the end of
the tasting review indicate that the rating
and review were created specifically by
that taster. Wines that do not include
initials at the end of the tasting review
are wines that were reviewed by two or
more tasters.

| why
do we review wines? |
| For the love of wine! That's
why. We want to educate our consumers and
give you the power to be comfortable with
your wine purchasing decisions, be it something
to go with tonight's meatloaf or your 50th-year
anniversary - and besides, year after year,
cool-aid has never had a great vintage, red
or white! |
