Enobytes ("Eno" – short
for Enology:
a science that deals with wine and wine making, & bytes: A
collection of organized bits of information)
has been around since 1996.
Back then, founders
Marc Hinton and Pamela Heiligenthal provided
consulting services for the wine and restaurant industry
in
the San Francisco area. Since then, the company
has evolved radically.
In 2006, the online version of Enobytes.com emerged
as we expanded our services to educate and share
our passion and knowledge of wine and food with our
readers across the globe.
Today, thousands of readers and a half a million
hits from 52 foreign countries visit Enobytes.com
each month.
Our vision is simple: to promote an exchange of
ideas that benefit professionals and enthusiasts
alike. We consider our publication an alternative
source to mainstream wine periodicals with an emphasis
on bridging the gap between consumers and wine industry
professionals.
Enobytes.com is a respected wine resource for enophiles
looking for wine
reviews, maps, vintage
charts and commentary about
the wine & restaurant industry.
Some of our features that set us apart from other
online publications and blogs is that we are one
of the first pioneering sites to create wine
region maps using Google Earth technology . We
are also the first in the industry to review winery
tasting rooms©, and we also offer unique
opportunities for enthusiasts and professionals to
communicate and exchange ideas with wine industry
leaders thorough our Vino
Exchange forum segment.
In addition to writing and tasting for Enobytes.com,
Pamela and Marc also contribute as wine bloggers
for OregonLive.com (Wine
Bytes) and has appeared on Portland's "Vine
Time" on News
Radio 750 KXL and on California's Central Coast "From
the Growing of the Grape to the Glass" on KUHL-AM
1410. Enobytes also received
accolades from InstallEarth.org for
our Google Earth wine map efforts.

Writer and California Press’s Gastronomica magazine.
He completed a Ph.D. on the work of Wallace Stevens
at Cambridge in 2005 and was subsequently a Research
Fellow at The
Rothermere American Institute, Oxford.
He recently co-edited and contributed to Wallace
Stevens across the Atlantic (London: Palgrave, 2008)
and will shortly publish his own study of Stevens.

Nixon - Regional Correspondent (Australia) |
Based in Melbourne,
Peter Nixon reports on the Australian wine
industry.
Peter has recently joined high profile national wine retailer Dan
Murphy’s in the role of Fine Wine Marketing Manager. Prior to this
position Peter managed the Qantas Wine Program for 3-years where he was highly
regarded by the Australian wine industry for his efforts in elevating the potential
of the airline as an international ambassador to the Australian wine
industry.
Peter has an associate diploma in Wine Marketing
from Adelaide University along with considerable
experience in the on and off-premise wine & hospitality
trade both in Australia and the UK. He has also
completed the Advanced Wine Assessment course
at the Australian wine research institute.
Peter has been involved in professional show-judging
both in Australia (Royal Melbourne and Winewise
Boutique Wine Awards) and internationally (Decanter
UK World Wine Awards). He was also involved in
wine selection for Air New Zealand as a member
of the Air New Zealand wine panel alongside John
Buck OBE (Te Mata Estate) and John Buck (Foxes
Island).
Though Peter strongly supports the view that
the show system has inherent limitations, namely
too often overlooking restrained, subtle & complex
wines in favour of more-obvious "show" styles,
he does believe that those wines succeeding generally
do deserve recognition. In addition, for those
wines overlooked, the growing culture of independent
wine assessment via reputable wine writers (blogs
or traditional print media) provides balance. "As
with similar humanity areas such film, art or interior
design identifying an informed critic or range
of critics with whom you identify with is fundamental."
Peter is also an avid foodie with a commercial
cookery certificate, however realized early in
the piece it was wiser to marry a chef than become
one. His wife Margaret Nixon has worked at iconic
Sydney establishments including Bistro Moncur,
Eleni’s and Paramount. She is currently studying
a PhD in Psychology. "If you have met many
chefs you might appreciate that this change of
career is not as radical as you might at first
have thought."
Peter welcomes the opportunity to contribute
to Enobytes "the best examples of Australian
wine can and do compete sit comfortably alongside
those from anywhere on the planet and I am honoured
to be supporting the industry by raising awareness
of Australia’s finest wines and producers."
